Can I turn a Verizon Wireless contract phone into a prepaid?

I want to have a Verizon Wireless phone, But I also want to have a prepaid phone. The phones that they have for their prepaid plans are not really what I was looking for, So is there a way that I can turn a Verizon Wireless contract phone to prepaid?
