Can i transfer my mom's phone upgrade to my number on Verizon?

My blackberry storm is continuosly breaking and shows the wrong screen often or shows half the screen i want to see, then the other half is yellow/white/black barcode stuff. Basically its useless. My mom is eligable for an upgrade and i'm not until january, since we are on the same plan can i transfer her upgrade to my phone with Verizon?
