Can I transfer an Alltel phone to prepaid?

I found a phone about a week ago. And I asked everyone who was in the building if they lost a phone. And they all said no, and I kept it in the front office for about a week. And no one claimed it. So they let me keep it.
Anyways I was wondering. It is a alltel motorola razor, could I switch it to a prepaid?
And how would I do that?
Also, if I had to go to the alltel place, would they take the phone and keep it since its under someone elses name?
And last, could I switch it to a verizon prepaid? Instead of an Alltell prepaid?
 
If the phone was reported lost, then Alltel will not let you activate it.

Since alltel and verizon are teamed together now I'm assuming you can activate an alltel phone under the verizon prepaid.
