Can I take photos of the night sky and stars with a ordinary digital camera?

That's a lie. It depends on how good of a view of the stars you have, I am an experimental photographer and I've taken very nice sky images just with my little digital camera, it's not that hard you just need to adjust the shutter speed very low and hold it completely still to capture the image.
 
It depends on whether there is a function on the camera to change the shutter speed to be a very large number like a few minutes instead of, say, 1/60 second.

If your camera can do that, then either use a tripod or balance the camera on something while it takes a picture. Do NOT try to hold it with your hands.
 
I don't think that will show up clearly .... sorry. You need to get a good camera. this will not work out . maybe im wrong tho.
