so i'm writing a story, novel, whatever. i'm writing it in first person, and i'm trying to keep it in present tense. BUT! [here's the question...] i keep finding myself wanting to use past tense words to help the story advance....like when i want to skip ahead from one scene and kinda fill in the blanks....i'd be writing in present tense for one scene, then want to move on to the next scene, and i'd want a paragraph in between saying something like, "I spent the next few hours getting to know her...blah blah blah..." then start the next scene in present tense....is this ok?
