I was just diagnosed with type 2 and the doctor gave me a glucometer Ultra touch 2, she didnt ask me which I wanted just gave me that one, and prescribed me the strips and lancets for that meter. After only a couple days, my fingers hurt, I have read there are better glucose testing systems or better lancets, like the freestyle one, can I buy it and have my doc switch it so my insurance will still pay, or am I stuck with this crap one I hate?
Can I switch my glucometer if my doctor just gave me one?
