can i switch cell phone providers but keep my cell phone?

ok so i got a at&t go phone and i get noo service at my house like i have to drive about 15min into town before i get a signal so i was wondering if i could switch to verizon i used to have them but i lost my phone and all the store had was this phone i love the phone but att just sucksss! lol
