Can I switch a Verizon prepaid phone to the regular Verizon network?

I have a regular Verizon account. I recently lost my phone. Instead of buying an expensive phone from Verizon, I was going to buy a Verizon phone at big lots for $15.00 that was part of a prepaid setup plan. I was then going to call Verizon and hook it up. Is this possible?
