They sold me a cell phone assuring me it doesn't need a data plan. When I activated my new phone they told me it required a $30 data plan and there was no other way!!! My question is can they get in trouble for cheating me into buying this phone?
He went over the whole contract. He assured me there was no data plan. I asked him several times to be sure.
30 dollars more a month.

Can you prove they told you it doesn't need a data plan? If it's just your word against theirs, you're not likely to win. It is very difficult to prove a verbal agreement. You might get them to give you back your money for the phone you bought, but I think that's the best you can hope for, unless you got something in writing.

nope! they state in in their contract. just because they didnt point it out to you, it is ur responsibility to go thru everything to make sure u agree.

and if you bought the phone new they should have givin you a buyers remorse period to return the phone and cancel the contract/plan if you were not satisfied.

you have no chance. sorry.
