So here's the story:
I've been really interested in joining the military and am 99% sure I want to make a career out of it. But I recently discovered if you've had surgical correction on any joints you're disqualified from joining.
About a year ago I twisted my knee, heard a loud pop, and extreme pain for about two days after it happened. The lame part is that I wasn't even doing anything cool like playing football or running, it happened during my sleep.
I haven't hard surgery on it or even had it examined by a doctor because I have no insurance. My mom recently added me to her plan and I get insurance after January. So I'm wondering if this surgery will DQ me from joining the military. I'm almost positive I stretched my ACL. I doubt I could walk if I tore it.
I work out often and can't do squats with that much weight because it causes pain and cracking in my right knee. If I run it can start to cause discomfort but not much pain. Really the only thing that hurts is squatting, other than that it's pretty much normal. But if I bend my knee all the way in and try to stand up or even lift my leg it hurts and makes cracking noises.
Sorry for the long description but I wanted to give you the full story.
Cliffs:
Twisted knee.
Haven't had surgery yet.
Wondering if it will DQ me from military.
I just looked up tests to tell what my injury was, it turns out it's probably not a ligament and it's just the cartilage (meniscus).
