Can i still get my military retirement money?

When i was in boot camp i signed up for a retirement plan of some sort and put in 5% of my pay in to it. I think it was called TIP. I only served one year due to injury, and was discharged in 2003. Am I right to believe that i still have a right to that money? Does anyone know how I can go about getting it?
I guess fracturing my femur does make me lame but not really lazy.....I suppose living the rest of my life in pain is my reward.
Serious answers please!
