Can I still drive my Suzuki Swift? Blown Gasket?

About 3 weeks ago you overheated your engine, there was white smoke coming out of the exhaust. I pulled up, checked the oil, it was out. Filled up the oil. Drove 10 more Km and it started giving me more troubles. Realised that it was out of water. Filled it up... Managed to keep on driving.

Drove over the 2 weeks, checking my water levels every day and having to refil every second day. Also temparature gauge would go to the middle and then jump to cold, then to middle, then to cold, especially when driving fast/reving engine.

Took the car to mechanic, he found a hole in the radiator and replaced it. The coolant is no longer leaking. However the temperature gauge still jumps from the middle to cold and then back on a regular basis.

When I pull up the car smells quite 'warm' almost as if you put a towel on a really hot heater and then take it off and it smells...

I have driven about 2000km since all this started and not had a problem with the car in terms of functionality. It seems to run okay but I am worried that something may be wrong.

If the Gasket is cracked/blown is it possible that I could drive 2000Km???

If it isn't a Gasket should I be worried about anything else? Why is the temp. gauge all over the place?

It is a suzuki swift, how much would it cost to replace the gasket? How do I find a good mechanic to do it cheap/well?
Also from time to time i can hear a gurgling sound in the engine, is this related?
