Can I stay on my alltel plan if I buy a verizon phone?

My alltel phone died out on me the other day and now since verizon bought out alltel I can't find a alltel phone to buy. Can't I just buy a verizon phone and stay on my alltel plan? My phone is a prepaid btw.
