Interesting scenario I have. I went to a credit union and got a loan to buy a car. The dealer didn't have the title (it was from out of state) so they gave me temp tags. The title finally came to me in the mail, but the car has not yet been registered with the DMV because I didn't have a title. I still have temp tags on the car and have not registered it with DMV. So question: could I sell the car for the payoff amount and still give the new owner the out of state title I have in hand, since technically the car is not registered to me?
not trying to sell it and just take the $ because I don't want to jack up my credit. I just want to know if since the title doesn't have my name on it, if I can just sell it and give the bank what i owe.
