can i safely drive 700 miles in an 06 jeep grand chrkee that needs a new Electronic...

...Shift Control Module?!...? hi, i have a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. it has like 30,000 miles on it. i started to smell some fumes in my car and a light came on indicating i need to check the engine out. i went to the dealership and they told me I needed to replace the electronic shift control module (for $697!!! ripoff...).

i have to drive from florida to north carolina for christmas in a few days. can i safely drive up there without a problem?

the light is no longer on. car is driving fine i think, but i still smell some fumes...

please advise me!
i don't think it is fuming...persay.
i smell a light scent of something like gasoline. it is not too intense, but my friend noticed it when she was in my car...
500 miles i have to drive, not 700
 
If it is fuming that wouldbe a huge mistake. That means you are doing major damage. If you drive 700 miles you are almost sure to do further damage like break the transsmission which costs 4000$
