I bought a house last fall and on the south side there is an old bed that was clearly left dormant for a long time. I want to reclaim part of it to grow veggies and turn the rest back into lawn. A friend told me to mow the whole thing down (clippers, then mulching mower w/ bag), then pin black plastic over it to kill everything. Will that work?
I was also told that for the grass part I could just clip, mow, churn it all up, plant grass, then spray turf builder on it (or "go chemical") after a few weeks and that would let the grass live and kill all else.
Any advice for this first time home and yard owner appreciated!
