We have a 92 Integra and just had the A/C serviced. The mechanic said there was a slow leak in the evaporator, and that we could either replace that ($600) or recharge the system ($145). We had him recharge the system.
Eventually it is going to need help again. Is recharging the system or replacing the evaporator something that a layman could do? The system has been retrofitted for the modern refrigerant.
