can i re-press charges against my ex in domestic dispute?

I was assaulted by an ex..... domestic dispute we were lesbian lovers...neighbors called the police..she didnt want to press charges...i wanted to however the police seemed to be uninterested and said i should just leave the home...my ex happens to be an attorney i noticed her laughing with the police when she was speaking to them......the police tried to say just leave the home since it is in her name..i told them thats fine but id like to press charges...then i was immediatly arrested. my neighbors were as shocked as was i..they were witness'...even though i was the victim....after 8 long months of court appearances the case against me was dismissed...can i still press charges against my ex for assualt....since technically my first attempt at pressing charges led to my arrest
