Can I put "road bike" tires on my "Giant Sedona"?

I just bought a Giant Sedona which I guess is classified as a comfort bike. I will be riding it around 10 miles each way. It has worn out tires on it now but they were regular comfort style tires. I want to know if i can replace them with tires you would see on a "road bike". I also want to know if this is recommended. I do not want any troubles with the bike in an attempt to modify it. I will only be riding on the road. The tires are 26x1.95. If I can replace them with tires that will make the bike faster, what size should I use? Will it make a big enough difference to even do this? I don't want to waste money or F up my bike so if you answer but aren't positive, let me know. Thanks for your help

You're wheels are 26", so NO you can't put road tires on it. But you can put a treadless "slick" on it with a somewhat narrower width. As for just how much narrower, I can't say w/o seeing the rim. Take it to your bike shop and have them show you some options. No tread, a bit narrower, and slightly higher PSI will make a difference. But I wouldn't bother at this point unless your current tires are significantly worn or giving issues.
