Can I put black/gold CA plates on my car?

I have a 1970 monte carlo (1970 was last year for black/gold ca plates), and I was wondering if I buy some plates if I can put it on. The car was built here in CA, but then was first registered in CO, and has been registered there for 39 years. I just brought it to CA and want to get the black plates. If I buy black plates can I register it for my car? Thanks
 
No its too late the best bet is to find two identical black and gold plates. then request that number be assigned to you as a "personalized plate" they'll issue you new personalized plates with that number. then when they come in the mail put on the old ones and store the new ones.
