I am trying to cure Ick/Ich and I have read many treatments that suggest keeping salt in the tank at all times. Only problem is that I have freshwater fish and don't want to harm the unaffected fish.
You can add a bit of salt to aid in the tank but that won't cure the tank from ich. You need to go to a pet shop and purchase a ich medication. You can also rise the water tempeture up a few degrees. Remember to remove any carbon media from the filter if not that will just absorbe the medication from the water.
..... well freshwater fish are fresh...... so no salt... you can buy ick treatments at any pet store, just don't buy the cheap stuff, usually doesn't work.
