Depends what size your oscars are ? Now before I say it I'm sure you know that the 55 gallon is gonna be too small for the full size of those two oscars right ? In time as they grow up one of the oscars will kill the other, I see it time and time again in that sized tank. Even in a bigger tank there's no grantees. So now for the question, Giant Danios would be the best fit for you oscars if they are the same size as the danios. The danios get to be about 4.5 in and are fast so given more room they can outrun the oscars. Anything that can fit in a oscars mouth will be food. Good Luck

Nope. 55 gals isnt even big enough for those 2 right now. They'll need around 90 gallons when they're fully grown. If you want other fish then you'll need 120 gals.

If you do get a larger tank, possible tank mates would be large, semi agressive cichlids such as Jack Dempsey. You gotta be careful with this though. Oscars aren't really that aggressive and people make the mistake of putting a really aggressive fish in with the oscar.

Other possibilities for tank mates would be larger (6 inch+) schooling fish.

You CAN add others, just need a bigger tank faster. I have a 75 that hosts my cichlids - Africans that is.

I would recommend not schooling, not gouramis, not danios. But other types of south Americans. Like: convicts, severums, other oscars, acards, ahlis(african), wulf cichlids(get BIG), or even some catfish like larger pictus, pangasius, or synodontis types.

In my tank I have a nice 6 inch synodontis and a clown synodontis with some clown loaches, big blood red parrot, pleco, and severum to mix with my small Africans.

Good luck!

You'll need a bigger tank, a 55gal would be ok for 1, and only 1 oscar but 75 is usually recommended for just one. Oscars should only be housed with other lager fish that can hold their ground, if you put a fish in the tank that can fit in the oscar's mouth, chances are it will. Most people house oscars with common plecos and jack dempsies, other larger cichlids like a texas would be ok too.
