I've been reading about the health risks associated with teflon coating. There are all these pans with ceramic coating now. I have one and I love it. But there is a particular kind of pan that I need that they don't make with ceramic coating yet. I have an old, unused aluminum pan that hasn't been used because aluminum is not safe to cook on unless it has a coating. Then I read that most pans with coating like teflon & ceramic have an aluminum base and then the coating ontop of it. I was thinking I could mold a ceramic plate that perfectly fits the inside of the pan I have and just cook on that. I know that the coating I make won't be bonded to the pan like with store bought items, but that doesn't matter. Does anyone out there deal with ceramics and can tell me if this is ok?
