can i loose my job or worse go to jail over this? im scared?

no i think you will be fine just explain what happened honesty. don't pick up a child by the wrist especially when their that young. you could really end up hurting her the next time. i know its was mistake just be careful!!!!!!!!!!!
 
you should be fine, especially if you have long nails [itd be very understandable if you had long nails because itd be easier to show it was an accident] but no, if the child was not complaining about being hurt and you explain it was on accident and you were more concerned about the other child's safety than how your nails were, than you should be fine.

The only thing that may happen is that the parents will notice and complain to your boss. But, you should not get into any kind of legal trouble because of what you did.
Your daycare center could get in trouble, though... 14 children in that age group puts you over legal quota... By law you can only have 8 children in that age group with one teacher.
 
OK. i work at a daycare. i have a class of 14 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 year olds. anyways. today one of my students tried to bite one of my other kids and before she can get to them i was able to stop her. well to do that i picked her up by her wrist and pulled her aside. and talked to ger about not biting. im a very laid back kind of person. and i wasnt mad at all. i just dont allow that.


ok i say all that to say... today when i was changing her diaper i noticed that when i grabbed her arm i caught her with my nails. so she has 3 ringer nail marks on her arm. it didn't cut the skin and its not swollen or anything but i am so scared that i will get in trouble. by my boss or the cops. I didn't think i was being that aggressive or heavy handed with her and i sure didn't use my nails on purpose. but i don't know what to do. I'm hoping it goes away. but i dont know what to do if it doesn't. what do you think? Can i go to jail for this? or loose my job?
I did not mean to say "pick her up" i didnt. she was sitting and i got her to stand up and we walked to the other side of the room. Im sorry. i would never pick up a child by there wrist.
 
sometimes even if we have time to react in a non aggressive manner things go array,possible employer sanctions,but i don't think so. you had the proper intentions,marks probably not visible in a day or two.next time maybe a strong verbal warning.
 
The best thing to do is to be honest with the parents....you didnt mean to do it. Don't worry......just tell them the truth, if you dont tell them and they see it, they will wonder why you didnt tell them.
