This question concerns the legality of keeping a gun in a vehicle on a school campus in the state of Tennessee.
For a handgun carry permit-holding law-abiding citizen, is it legal to drive onto a school campus, remove the gun from concealment, then secure it in the vehicle and exit the vehicle? At no point would the gun leave the vehicle.
Please cite laws if possible. I cannot find a confirmation of this.
Please answer the question, do not address the issue of "leaving the gun in a car." A secured gun in a car is safe, as long as a secure lock and container mechanism is used. Theft can occur both inside and outside of a home.
Once again, please address the question, do not express personal opinions of gun laws or safety opinions.
Apologies for a second edit. Guns are legally allowed by TN state law if the owner remains in control of the weapon, does not operate it, and is dropping off/picking up an individual. I'm seeking additional information for an adult HCP holder for securing a weapon inside the car and then exiting the vehicle.
