I am wanting to learn welding as a career and have been interested in it for quite some time. I was at work a few nights ago and was chatting with the welder working the night shift next to me about where he picked up welding and he said an r.o.p class at palomar college in california(where I live). Do I have to get a full degree just to learn how to do it? I could clearly see the guy was simply pulling on a handle and producing a flame and was getting the steel red hot and using a tool of some type to push some parts together. He said they offer a welding rop class to learn the basics, everything else you learn from field work. I am also going to take workshop so I can learn how to properly read a tape measure. i can do measurements by eye sight but i dont know how to read a tape measure, wierd I know.
