Can I keep phone number when I cancel Sprint service?

Hi, I want to switch over to T-mobile to get the Nexus one. I recently purchased the HTC Hero with Sprint, but I want the Nexus one. I am able to get out of my contract with Sprint because they added a new charge (breach of contract). Do you think I can keep my same number if I switch to tmobile?
 
They can add some charges as long as thye are not excessive that is in the contract, if you want to keep your number you need to give your account number to T-Mobile so they can port it out.
