can i keep a japenese fighter fish in the same tank as 4 angel fish?

I have had my japenese fighter for about 2 years i have just bought 4 angel fish and just been told i should have not put these fish together because the angel fishs will nip the japenese fighter is this true ? I dont really want to but should i remove the japenese fighter and put in a bowl of its own ? Just wanted to add its a pretty large tank approx 100 litre
