I have a slim psp with version. 4.05. I currently have the 3.80 M33 custom firmware on my psp but have not yet installed it. I first want to know if i should even bother. If it will even work, the last thing i want is my psp to brick. I also don't have the fancy battery or memory stick but i heard you don't really need it.

In summary: - I have a slim psp.
- I Have version version 4.05 currently installed
- I don't have a pandora battery or a "magic memory stick
-Can i successfully install the custom firmware 3.80?

you need the pandora battery or you cant do it

but if you do get it modded you will need a memory stick, or else you cant use any of the features a modded psp uses anyway because its all about playing stuff from the memory stick. Unless you have a very small psp sized disk burner :D

You need to downgrade your psp below 3.5 ofw, which means you need a pandora battery and a magic memory stick.

Even though you have the 3.8m33 cfw installer, you can't install it because your psp will tell you, you already have a higher version downloaded on your psp. I made my own pandora battery and magic memory stick in about a hour(including the time it took me to figure out how to). You have to break open your battery and break a pin inside it, but afterwords the battery wont work as a normal battery. The magic memory stick is just a memory stick with a certain program downloaded onto it. I forget the details but you can google all this and watch some youtube tutorials.
