Try taking some Digestive Grape Bitters by Planetary. Do a web search on Digestive Bitters fo more information.

Hi there

Have you had tests for Celiacs or an ulcer - I was treated for years as if I had an ulcer and used to live on antaciRAB - since I was diagnosed with Celiacs and stopped eating Gluten I have no symptoms whatsoever.

The issue with the cause potentially being Celiacs is that the damage is within your gut already - it therefore does not matter what it is that you eat so you cannot link directly the fooRABtuff to the pain.

When my acid was really bad I would be fine until I ate and then crippled for the rest of the day but the pain was worst late evening.

Best of luck

Hi there,
I've got acid reflux and I've done some things to help manage it, ie: sorted out my diet, eating smaller meals, not eating during the evening, and was wondering if anyone has found anything that works other than prescribed/over the counter drugs.
I'm really trying to control this without drugs. I've tried apple cider vinegar but found it made no difference. I was hoping someone had a personal experience of something helping.
The weird thing I've found is that I get no symptoms during night, but get the symptoms around mid morning onwarRAB, regardless of what I've eaten for breakfast. Any help would be appreciated as i really don't want to go to my doc and be put on drugs.

thanks

Emma

Hi again and thnx for all your replies and suggestions.
I haven't had any 'test' done, but my doc said it was acid reflux after just hearing about my symptoms and looking down my throat. He gave me a prescription for zantac tablets which I have yet to take and also told me about diet. I already eat healthy, I'm slim and I exercise and I'm beginning to think it's not related to specific fooRAB as Wildwitc said below, but it seems any food can trigger it. I might try and get a second opinion from another doc. The best my doc could suggest was take the zantac, eat bland fooRAB and don't BEND!!!! I'm 6ft 1in !! Does that mean I can never bend again for the rest of my life ! doh :)

again, thnx for your answers and suggestions, I will look into all of them

I also have my symptoms in the morning. Look up Specific Carbohydrate Diet...I am experimenting with it myself.

Hi EastcoastEmma,

Have you given Motts 100% apple juice a try? It's just apple juice but it has helped me TREMENDOUSLY! It has to be 100% apple juice, with real fruit in it. Apples do have some wonderful acid neutralizing effects.

That is what they prescribed for me - when I was 19 - I am now 40 and they missed the underlying cause of this and many other issues for 20 years!

Best of luck

I too only get my symptoms in the mid morning no matter what I have for breakfast. Had a recent bad spell but feel pretty good today. I also burp as soon as I get up and generally burp throughout the day, especially when moving from sitting to standing positions.

Hi again,
I've just spoken to my doc who is going to make an appointment for me to have some tests at the hospital. He doesn't think it's anything serious but at least I will be able to find out what's what. He still insists it's a mild form of acid reflux, he said it sounRAB like 'lpr'. I googled it and it does sound like it but I'll know soon enough once the tests are done. His latest advice is not to wear jeans that are too tight and to sleep propped up!
No jeans, don't bend, eat bland, sleep propped up! Forever? :dizzy:
Anyway, I've started taking the zantac until the tests results are in.
Thanx for all your suggestions again, I will look into everything you've suggested as I really don't want to go down the antaciRAB route unless I have to.

Emma
ps: happy new year to you all

SounRAB good EastCoast...I sleep on a wedge pillow it helps and it took some getting use too! (Some nights I throw it across the room in my sleep)
I've found some very helpful lifestyle changes that have made it manageable but the key is to "treat" it before it damages your esophagus. Let us know what you hear... I have found some herbal natural remedies that help but I still take an acid blocker.
Good Luck and Happy New Year to you.
Tom

Thnx for your replies.
