I believe they say wait 2-4 weeks for the ring to be 100% effective. You could always use a VCF as a back-up with a condom. It cant hurt

If you want to be extra sure use a condom to be on the safe side. With most forms of birth control, it takes about a week before they take effect.

just incase use protection because u never kno wat might happen or wat a guy might have he could have aids or hiv

you should be on the safe side for tonight-just put on the condom, this stuff doesn't portect you from stds which will more likely happen to you over getting pregnant (if your not in a secure relationship) about 50% chance of std in the nation if your having sex.just put it on man!

NO!!!!! The birth control doesn't even take effect for a while. I think like 3 months. I'm on birth control too and I waited a couple months to be sure. The doctor warns you of that. It's too soon sweety. Please be patient. You don't want to take any chances.

uuuuuuh can we say no...I said that last year "I took my birth control so I'm fine". Now mommy to a 5 month old. Very proud by the way.

I suppose you could. The ring should give off the chemicals immediately after it is inserted. But I think you should still use a condom just incase it doesn't and to prevent getting an STD

I think you answered your own question right there when you said and i quote "i dont want to get pregnant!!!! at all!" in that case why then would you want to have unprotected sex even though you have in the nuvaring. I suggest you make mr wear a condom.

Not the best idea considering it doesn't protect you from STD's. Better to use a condom! :)

You know, if the guys you know, thingy, goes inside that ring, that means your married! As soon as it goes inside the ring, you are legally married. So, there's a lot more at stake here than just babies, and STDS, there's marital responsibilities.

My goodness do what you want to do. Have unprotected sex. Get pregnant, get aids, std whateva, and sue me later.

wtf is with these answers? There was no need to be rude to you.... for all they know, you're married or in a committed monogamous relationship. If you inserted the ring on the first day of your period, you should be protected already. For some people it takes longer for their cycles to even out and stuff, but it suppresses ovulation quickly. If I were you, i'd wait the full seven days, but really, you should be fine. Talk to your doctor if you still aren't sure.

Unprotected sex is not an answer in this day an time. If you were born in the 70's a shot of penicillin would take care of anything going. Now a days you die from it. Never take a chance unless you know. (an nobody knows)
