Can I have HTML on the Subdomains main and Worpress on the TLD?

The question is in the title ^^^^^^^^

I like optimizing plain old HTML for search engines but want the TLD to have Wordpress on it for easy article additions... is this possible??!?!

Example:

shinycars.com <-------------------wordpress
red.shinycars.com <-------------html
