can i give my used ipod nano to a apple store?

Can i get some credit or some thing if i give them my year old ipod nano 4g. It is in good condition but i want to buy the new one. i didn't buy it from the apple store, i got it from wal-mart. wil they still take it even if i didn't buy from apple store.
