Can I get rid of that dirty fish tank smell?

I recently moved and had to empty my fish tank. It was neglected in the last few months so it built up quite a bit of algae. Yesterday I made a saltwater paste and used it to scrub the tank clean. I rinsed it thoroughly. It worked. However, when I filled the tank up I could smell this old fishy water smell. Now my whole basement smells like it. I have undergravel filters so i think the bubbles popping at the surface might be releasing the odour. Will this smell go away? How can I fix this?

THIS SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME , I WAS FORCED TO GO BUY NEW FILTERS. I HAVE ALSO HEARD YOU CAN CLEAN OLD FILTERS OUT. GOOD LUCK!

Your fish tank is probably just re-settling from the move. I would give your tank some time to just cycle throw again and see what happens next. If that doesn't work I would buy new filter and wash your tank again. It might be the saltwater paste reacting to the water.
Hope this helps!
