Hi, I live in California & I want to start taking over payments on my friends bike. I'm going to take my permit test tomorrow so I'll at least have a permit.
I don't want to get the bike signed over to me because I don't have credit & I can't get a loan, so she is going to just let me pay the payments and when that's done, she'll sign the bike over to me. But she said she will only do this if I show proof that I have full coverage insurance for riding.
My question is: if I only have a permit, and the bike isn't in my name, can I get insurance? Or is there a way to get insurance for ANY bike that isn't in my name if i only have a permit?
