Can I get into the Army?

for the people

I tried to get into the Navy, but it did not work. I took my ASVAB and got a 79. Went to MEPS and passed everything with flying colors. Background check came back and it said I have a felony. I submitted a statement and I was still discharged. It was B&E with intent to commit a commit a felony. I was 16 and it was an abandoned house. None the less, they discharged me from DEP. What about the Army? Would they take me with my felony. I was so young. I was tried as a juvenile. If I can get in, do I have to take the ASVAB again and go thru MEPS again, because I was just discharged from DEP on July 2nd this year. Also, does the Army ship people out more than the navy or less. Are there any bases in CA?

When we need bodies we will take anyone, people with felonies, covered in tat's, gang bangers...etc..etc But right now our quota is up so they can be VERY selective with who they let in. I could be wrong and your recruiter could say yes but I don't think you will get in right now. The economy is bad so everyone is joining because its a sure fire meal ticket.

As for Cali, yes there is a active duty base called Ft. Irwin, it is a HOLE! I was stationed there for 3 years. It is in the mohave dessert and gets to 120 in the summers. Its a national training center for troops going to fight in the wars.

The Army might give you a "moral waiver," but right now they are not exactly hurting for fresh recruits, so your odds are not good.

You do not need to take the ASVAB to get into the army but they may not take you because of your felony check with your recruiter

Your recruiter is supposed to run your record way before meps. Unless you lied to him and told him that I am clean. The governor of your state has to waive the charge. Which means that it does not pop up on thiner systems. Go back to recruiter and ask to get it waived, although it is a felony they are allowing people in with them. Be straight up with the recruiter, that must have been really embarrassing. If you were let in and became a soldier and found the felony, you could be charged with another felony. Dont screw with them guys.

You're pretty screwed right now. You may be able to join the Guard in a few years if recruiting turns south again, but I doubt it. If you get a presidential pardon you would be able to.
