Can I get help rewriting the linking verbs in these sentences?

Children are adventurous, rash, and bold.

I was bound and determined to learn how to ride without them, and the oldest member of our gang, the leader, told me she would teach me the ways of proper bicycling.

Despite my courageousness, or stupidity, in the past, I was quite nervous.

After he took the training wheels off, I was afraid to move.

Even though I had learned to ride in a straight line, I wasn't quite finished conquering the concept of the bicycle just yet.

The next thing I had to do was stop, after that, make a turn.

How do I change this sentence from being passive: I, on the other hand, was declared an outcast because my bike still had training wheels.
