Can I get associate degree from a foreign country and then transfer to U.S college

to get a bachelors? Im having a hard time deciding which kind of college (community college, private institution, etc) should I attend to work on getting an A.A degree and then transfer to a state university to get a B.A. I thought of the University of the Philippines because its cheap to attend but I worry the classes I take wont be accredited to another university here in the U.S. Could you tell me if this is a good idea? Is the school system the same there as it is here? I appreciate any advice and opinions you have on this matter.
