Can i get a Verizon phone on Straight Talk?

My mom has a Verizon phone she doesn't use anymore, and I've seen it as one of the ones they sell at Straight Talk. Could i use it as one of Straight Talks? Like get a card and put it in to talk,txt,and browse?
