So I've been out of the country for longer than Verizon's temporary service suspension policy would allow me to be, and I now need to terminate my two-year contract with them 13 months early. However, I would like to return to Verizon when I get back to the US in January, and get one of their prepaid plans. My question is: since I already have a fairly new multimedia phone from Verizon which I can legally unlock now, is it possible for me to get my prepaid plan using this phone, or do i have to buy a new, prepaid phone from Verizon?

I would prefer not to buy a new phone even if it's cheap, and just use my perfectly functional old one. My question was whether or not that is possible.
