Can I get a law firm to dispute a vehicle repossession if it says 'Account

Charged off to Profit & Loss"? I was in a very bad place when I moved from my small town life into a much larger city with my then boyfriend. I co-signed for his brand new car and I had a brand new car. I was young, and not making much money. I lost my job and both vehicles were repossessed. I've been trying to clean up my credit report for a few months now.

The repossessions were back to back, one in July 2007 and one in August 2007. These are now listed as 'Account Charged off to Profit & Loss' on my credit report. Are these items that can be disputed by a law firm?

Now that I'm older, ditched my troublesome ex and am making $53,000 a year I need to get my credit cleaned up. I have money to live ccomfortably but my bad credit is severely holding me back. I really don't want to wait until I'm 31 to hopefully get this stuff off my report (after the 7 year possibility).

I have done much research and even paying the debt off will not really help, if anything it will just flag a collection on my report as being recent.

What can I do? Suggestions? Success stories? I can't even get a decent credit card, only an Orchard Bank with a $320 limit.
