I'm being denied a $750 Academic Competitiveness Grant that I've already accepted for this past year. I met the criteria for the grant, the funds were allocated to me, I accepted the grant, and now it's vanquished from my financial aid account. I haven't yet spoken to the financial aid office about it, but I'm wondering what legal action I can take if they're denying what is already (legally) mine. The financial aid office at my school has a propensity of denying aid to certain students simply because they "feel like it" or because they have some petty grievance with them. It happened to a girl I know personally, and unlike her, I will NOT quietly drop out of school on their whim. Assuming the financial aid office is not compliant or is illegitimately denying my funds, what can I possibly do to amend this without taking things into my own hands? Aren't they committing some type of crime or fraud?
