Can I fight this ticket?

I was in a car accident. Here are the facts. I was driving along doing my thing. I was in the left hand lane of a four lane (two lanes each direction) street. I checked over my shoulder then looked back. There was a truck I don't remember being there two seconds before. I hit my brakes, yet still hit this vehicle severely damaging the front driver's side corner of my car. The other driver said she had no damage, and that there was no need to call the police and left without exchanging information. It all happened so fast, and I was still in shock that I forgot to get her license plate number. Someone else must have called the police because an officer showed up and gave me a citation for following to closely based on what I told him and the damage to my car. My question is since the other driver left the scene without exchanging information and insisted on not calling the police, plus the damage seems consistent that she might have pulled out in front of me, rather than my following to closely, do I have a chance at fighting this citation and winning? By the way I am in Colorado.
