can i fight an nco financial garnishment for the dept. of education?

nco financial has the debt, but the original debt is governmental. now i'm being garnished, can i fight this?
there was no hearing, just a letter saying they are now garnshing wages. no warning, no contact nothing. the ebt isn't even with the government anymore, itis with collections, any way to fight it?
