I worked for a company that gave me a handbook on my first day which included a schedule for paid time off for part-time employees. They inform all full time employees of this accrual by placing a number on their pay checks but don't do that for part-time employees. After I mentioned to them that they owe me back pay they claim that the handbook I received was never supposed to be distributed to employees and are questioning how I obtained a copy adding that my request has no merit. Do they owe me back pay because this was the handbook issued to me? Should I be contacting a lawyer? PS this is within the state of Wisconsin.
