I tried dying a white lab coat, apparently 65% polyester and 35% cotton, with fabric dye I bought from the craft store. The lady said it should work. It was suppose to be a dark blue colour and I followed the directions to a t but it turned out periwinkle. I know that hair dye can stain fabric so I am thinking about just buying some blue hair dye, like L'oreal or something, but I want to know if it will work. The only local fabric store never has anyone around for me to ask questions and the cashier said she didn't know anything about dying.
