Can I drive my Mexican car to the U.S. and return it to Mexico?

I am a U.S. citizen, Mexican resident. I have a Mexican car, registered here in Mexico that I would like to drive to the U.S., drive it there a couple of months and drive it back to Mexico. Can I do that? What is the situation with U.S. customs? Is it easier if a Mexican owns and drives the car?
