Hummingird is right; never use a micro to defrost anything fully.
You *can* however, use a micro to speed the defrosting process by *lightly* nuking the frozen food. Not enough to thaw it, but just enough to take off the "hard freeze." Follow this by normal thawing methods: cold water or refrigerator.
Never thaw food at room temperature; this is dangerous.
