If I was subpoenaed to testify in a trial across the country, had to take a week off from work and was only reimbursed for travel and lodging expenses...can I deduct my lost wages on my tax return? I normally make $500 a week at my job..can I deduct that on my taxes-- seeing as I was served a subpoena?
Also, Can I deduct the cost of therapy? I regularly go to therapy and don't have health insurance...
All of this is related to being raped when I was 16 and in Foster care....I had to go to his trial (Guilty! Serving 18-25 years!) But I've been in Therapy since 2011...I used to be a self-injurer and I had PTSD etc...I'm much better now...still going, though! Does that count as a "medical expense?"
I'm getting an early start on my taxes! But I don't want to be too much of an audit risk so any insight would be great! Thanks!
