Can I decorate my living room space with both a recliner and an accent chair?

I just bought a gorgeous brown distressed leather Bernhardt sectional with a matching recliner that my husband HAD to have. Not crazy about it, but since he is, we're keeping it. I'm new to decorating (first home) and I'm wondering if a recliner and an accent chair can be placed in proximity of each other with an accent table separating them. I don't want to overwhelm the space, yet add some sophistication and contrast to the dark leather. Opinions? Suggestions?
